We like to finish up this job, so that the homeowners could get back to their normal day to day.
The trim is delayed. but at least, the insurance company has accepted that tiles were improperly installed.
Today, I discovered, they had installed 2 times 1/2" plywood on top of each other and on top of original plywood.
Unfortunately, they were neither glued, nor screwed. They were only nailed and that explains why the floors were so bouncy.
I don't mind having to redo the floor, Once I take off the bath, I would do a nice continuous plywood, everywhere.

Today, I was called in for a rush Post reno inspection.
Beside the wrong plumbing, horrible plaster job and the crazy monkey tile work - I came across this.
A ceiling fan was installed in the bathroom. Somehow the exhaust duct was brought to the basement through a wall cavity and connect through a series of uninsulated, unsealed flexible duct connected to a T connection on another wall, that is was not going anywhere...
Why go through all this headaches and not do it properly???
It is mind boggling....
But then again, the "contractor" claimed he was a licensed roofer, and got the bathroom job. Unfortunately, the homeowners believed him in good faith and didn't do a quick RBQ search.
A quick RBQ search, would have resulted an empty return, showing the "contractor" had no license of any kind...
Always verify on RBQ website the validity of a contractor's license, it will not weed out the bad ones but it will at least raise a flag or two.

Good afternoon,
The company (which I shall not name - they are no longer in business) who had build this shower about 4 years ago, had decided that is a great idea to build a shower base with a bunch of 2x4s laying down and to apply liquid membrane on top.
Well let me tell you, it was a horrible idea. The base had so much flexibility in it that it probably started letting water through after a few months.
After 3 or 4 years, everytime someone went to shower, there was crazy amount of water leaking downstairs.
Since the tile work on the walls were nicely done, we decided to surgically remove bottom row of tiles and the shower base.
Since the same tile was not available, we introduced a black tile and here is the outcome - we even managed to save the black granite which was used as shower sill.
It looks amazing and did save tons of materials from going to junk and quite a bit of money for the homeowner.
They are super happy and are now a member of Eco-Nature Construction Family. 🙂
On every job that we do, we always meet a great family and new friends. That is why, it is very important to me to meet with homeowners at least a couple of times, to make sure we are on the same page and compatible together.
That is one of the secrets of our continous success at each time. I would never take on any job that I would feel the homeowner might be thinking of cutting corners to save a few bucks.

Good Morning,
Here is an update of our job in ile-bizard.
The old shower base was cracked and the tile work was not spectacular.
So we decided, it was better to redo everything.
Everything was demoed to the studs.
The drain had to be moved to the center and new composite base was installed.
Kerdi boards and niche was then installed.
Last week, we had tiles installed and grouted.
On Monday, the room was painted and caulking applied.
Yesterday, the plumbing trims were installed.
We should be installing the glass door early next.
And then all would be done!
Great work team! As always great collaboration between different trades to deliver an amazing job with the least amount of stress for the homeowners.

It was a tough one, in terms of space and being on the 4th floor but it had to get done.
I am very happy with the outcome, as are our clients. Great team work from everyone involved in this project.
